The Top 4 Videogames to Play with your Valentine

All right guys, Valentines Day is just around the corner and if you want to keep it sweet with your little lady, you’re going to have to turn Modern Warfare off for a bit. But you don’t have to completely swap out your favourite hobby for expensive nights out; there are plenty of games to get stuck in together that beats a pricey night out. And to make things a bit easier for you, we’ve narrowed it down to five of the top videogames to play with your Valentine…

1. New Super Mario Bros. Wii

When UK Chocolate hit the scene for the Modern Warfare 3 launch, singer Katie Melua was one of the girls to admit that even though she’s not a huge fan of games, Mario is one guy she can make an exception for. So, you’ll have no trouble getting your girl to grips with this retro flavoured 2D side scroller with a modern twist. Colourful, easy to play and simply a classic, it even has 2 player cooperative play so you can work through the game together!

2. Saints Row the Third

The GTA series is another set of games that girls learn to hate because it’s so addictive and sucks away our time. Drug dealing, shootouts with cops and assassinations… it’s all serious business and not the most romantic concept. So Saints Row the Third is an awesome Valentines alternative; similar in style to GTA, it doesn’t take itself seriously with some absolutely hilarious situations, wacky weapons and ridiculous missions around a massive city and to blow off steam with the two player cooperative mode.

3. Left 4 Dead 1/2

Every guy needs to know if their girlfriend has their back, especially in the case of a zombie apocalypse. And there’s no better way to put your relationship’s survival skills than through coop shooter, Left 4 Dead. Think being thrown into the middle of 28 Days Later and you’re on the right page. It’s got all the makings of a great horror movie, with tense moments mixed in with action packed sequences and is sure to get both your blood pumping as you look out for one another through a sea of incoming zombies.

4. Portal 2

True teamwork is the name of the game with Portal 2’s cooperative campaign. Taking on the roles of 2 cute little robots, you’ll be equipped with ‘portal guns’ that have you shooting portals to get around obstacle course-like rooms, and solve some increasingly difficult puzzles to move onto the next area. It’s a simple enough concept, but masterful in its execution. Requiring some solid thinking, you and your Valentine will have a blast taking your time and really working together through the clever puzzles. And once you’ve figured out that particularly difficult one, the shared sense of accomplishment and teamwork beats anything Clinton Cards was offering up on Valentines Day.
