Imagine the scene. It’s February the 14th. Downstairs in the dining room, there’s a candlelit table with two glasses of wine and what appears to be the remains of something very chocolatey and sweet on the plates. On the floor is torn wrapping paper and a large, empty jewelry box. You are upstairs with one hand on the bedroom door and the other holding your girl’s newly blinged out hand. You’re about to step in and… well, you get the point. But there’s something missing – music! What’s pumping out the speakers? Only the best love songs of all time!

5. The End Of Time by Justin Timberlake

The song has a gentle bass, a soft melody and is bursting with, ahem, easily stolen lyrical content. Written by Timbaland, it’s got a Prince feel laced with a touch of Timberlake’s trademark falsetto, perfect for setting the mood. For extra curves, listen to the duet version with Beyonce.

4. Whenever, Wherever, Whatever by Maxwell

This song may be 16 years old but it’s lost none of its impact. The mellow vibes are incredibly soulful, sending all sorts of warm, tingly, insert-lovely-adjective-here feelings in all sorts of places. When they say grown and sexy, it doesn’t get any more adult romance than Maxwell.

3. Walked Outta Heaven by Jagged Edge

Only JE do love and keep it hood so this playlist was always going to feature them. While Let’s Get Married is a hot ballad and a favourite among the ladies, we prefer Walked Outta Heaven just that little bit more. It’s the stripped back production and raw emotion that do it for us.

2. Lost Without U by Robin Thicke

Why is Lost Without U be in the top five? It might be because of its infectious melody. It might because it evokes summer vibes. It might be because Thicke’s flawless vocals allow him to say the naughtiest things. Yeah… it might be. But it’s more likely we love it because it’s hella sexy. Simples.

1. All My Life by K-Ci and JoJo

They don’t make love songs like this anymore. Probably because All My Life broke the mould. The 1998 classic passes the test of time. It has everything. It has sex, it has drama, it has passion. It even has a bit of church. Combined with faultless production and crazy high notes, this is what should be on constant replay for Valentine’s Day.
