I remember a time when I was stood on a Central London street at 11:55pm on New Year’s Eve praying that the snaking queue in front of me would miraculously disappear and allow my friends and I to get in, get a drink and still be in time for the countdown. This particular time, I was definitely not a priority on the Praying list, in fact I believe I was probably in someone’s bad books as, 15 minutes later, Yes! You do the Math, I was now sharing an umbrella with 4 other females and listening to some promoter tell us that they were over capacity and would refund the tickets but the long and short of it was, it was time to go home.
Thankfully with age comes wisdom or, if I’m being honest, a catalogue of bad experiences that allow us to stop making the same mistakes. With regards to New Years this wisdom led me to a new experience that catered to exactly what a New Years Eve should consist of.
The NYE Getaway Experience was the brainchild of CLUB VIP PLUS a perfect blend including Mr XL, So- Charlite and Mr Whyte.. Together with Love Connexion, Celebrity Supa to name a few they organised and executed 24hours of grown up fun. Not only did they provide deluxe transport, comprehensive communication and a party that continued well into the night, but the 4* accommodation was beautiful. The rooms, a dream. The bed was large enough for even a Plus Sexy woman like myself to roll over twice.
Unfortunately, for the second year running I arranged my own transport due to unforeseen circumstances, however registration at the hotel was efficient and friendly. Local off street parking was ample and was validated at the hotel.
In the lobby we were met with chill out music and further down the corridor the Chat show was being set up. We had enough time to settle into our room before joining the other 200+ guests at the Chat show. The vibe was very relaxed with light hearted banter being tossed around the room. The panel expressed their opinions hilariously and really set off the evening’s entertainment. This was followed by a 3 course Buffet meal which I have to add had the most succulent ,Medium Roast Beef I have ever tasted. I’m not sure about you but prior to that moment, eating beef that was even slightly red was an issue for me.
After dinner it was time to get ready for what I knew was to be the best part of the trip. The After Party!!!!!! The vibes were that of a Christening/Prom. Optimism engulfed the main room at the stroke of midnight as the House room was shut for the countdown so we could all share it together.
Throughout the night it was nothing but great music from all era’s and genre’s and the hotel ground floor swarmed with what R Kelly would call “Happy People”. The drinks at the bar were normal prices, no New Year’s Bump up and the enjoyment was palpable for all.
Breakfast was considerately from 11am – 1pm so sleep was an option for those who chose it, without having to force themselves out of bed, a few hours after getting into it. As if to rub the excellence in our faces one last time breakfast catered for all. English Breakfast buffet for those needing to soak up the units, to mini Bagels and Smoked Salmon for those needing something slightly more refined for their morning meal.
Check-out was at 2pm and the luxury coaches were ready on time for those who had booked it. The lobby still had a happy buzz surrounding it and the reps continued the great service all the way through to departure. As we loaded our car we couldn’t help but reminisce about the past 24hrs and make plans to do it all again Next Year. The experience is always value for money and a grateful change of scenery.
