LENS SS12 celebrates it’s 10th Season and welcomes Omar Kashoura to the Collective
This season LENS adds award-winning British menswear designer Omar Kashoura to its ever impressive line-up. Omar joins existing LENS favourites J.W. Anderson, New Power Studio, Dusty, Uniforms for the Dedicated and Dexter Wong for SS12.
London-based Omar obtained a Masters from Central Saint Martin’s school of Art and Design and has been described by Dazed Digital as ‘a key player in the British Fashion Industry’. Omar is renowned for his exquisite tailoring and his ability to source the very best technology rich fabrics resulting in an aesthetic that is a unique balance between hyper masculinity and relaxed elegance. Omar’s debut LENS collection is a beautiful mixture of lightweight knitwear, pastel preppy zip off collar shirts, all over print kimono t-shirts and formal luxe evening shirts.
J.W. Anderson’s SS12 LENS collection is an eclectic mix of polka dot silk shirting, Aztec and tribal print t-shirts and shorts, oxford bag chinos, and fine gauge varsity inspired knitted vests referencing the 1972 Olympics. New Power Studio use an oversized silhouette on cord shirting, photographic prints of childhood scenes on oversized t-shirts and sweatshirts, and towelling joggers. Dusty moves her SS12 LENS collection in a more sporty direction than her AW offering. Black satin shorts sit in juxtaposition with a white mesh hooded sleeveless tracksuit to create a monochromatic look throughout. Uniforms for the Dedicated offer up their classic timeless Scandinavian utility workwear through relaxed jersey pieces in a creamy colour palette and striped mandarin collared short sleeved shirts. LENS favourite Dexter Wong’s collection is based around zip detailing on black jersey and shirting, and Hawaiian printed white shirts.
Now into its tenth season, LENS is the brainchild of Topman Design Director Gordon Richardson and ‘b Store’ Founder Matthew Murphy. The idea is to create a space to showcase the cream of young emerging menswear talent from both here and abroad. LENS will be available in of the Oxford Circus store Thursday February 16th to coincide with the start of London Fashion Week and will available online @ topman.com, London Selfridges, New York, Chicago and various other worldwide wholesalers.
