It was on. It was off. Then it was on again. So Rocawear are still selling their Occupy All Streets t-shirts and the media attention on Jay-Z and Rocawear doesn’t look ready to let up as controversial artist Daniel Edwards has waded in.
Daniel Edwards has unveiled a totem pole sculpture suggesting the rap mogul is Scrooge. The statue depicts a bust of Jay-Z adorned with multiple chains and a dollar sign branded on his chest. Atop his head are three different cartoon Scrooge characters. The shape resembles the number 1, subtly placing Jay-Z out of the 99%.
The biggest issue has been that nobody knows where the money is going. The general consensus has been that some proceeds should be donated to the cause with people taking to Twitter to brand Rocawear exploitative. What happens next remains to be seen.
