It is clear to see that Beyoncé was hard at work before her baby bump started to show as she release’s her 6th video from her album 4. Within a week or so of revealing the ‘Love on Top’ video, B’s team premiered ‘Party’ on BET last night, which has already caused a lot of conversation among fans.
The song delivers an 80’s style of funk and soul, bringing back the much missed classic RnB feel. It was Andre 3000’s sharp and captivating verse that created the most appeal, with everyone eagerly waiting to hear more from the OutKast member. However for unknown reasons a new version of ‘Party’ was released with J.Cole replacing Andre’s verse.
This decision was so unpopular that Andre 3000 has been trending on Twitter since the news broke, with many disagreeing with the change;
@therealdjfresh I don’t know why Andre 3000 was not in the video but he is one of the best MC’s. The J-cole look i think was based on his dealin with jay-z
@DerrickSwerve Andre 3000 definitely had more swag than J. Cole on “Party”. Lets be honest
@AnthonyTilghman I like Andre 3000 verse in Beyoncé “Party” better than J.Cole’s #ImJustsayin.
Many rumours have spread, with some stating that Andre 3000 was kicked off the song so Jay Z could promote his new artist J.Cole while others have said that Andre’s label refused to sign him off for the song resulting in J.Cole replacing him. We can only wait and see what both camps say in the near future when questions will be asked, although it is doubtful Beyoncé’s side will answer these.
Nevertheless the video represents the song well, by showing a collection of photo shoots and film scenes that Beyoncé has done, and also features her sister Solange and Kelly Rowland who appear to be having a lot of fun at the old school style backyard party.
